The pups used up the last of their pressed rawhide supply last night…and it’s time to replenish. Shopping around on the net for bulk rawhide yielded poor results…hardly anybody offers pressed rawhide in bulk numbers. Petedge.com still has the best price on a 50-pack of pressed 4″ bones. I also tried to research the differences between porkhide and rawhide, but the general impression I get is that porkhide is simply tastier. Still, I’m not fond of the carpet-staining selection of smoked porkhide that I’ve purchased previously. Plus, I don’t think the puppies are too fond of the taste.
Now if only they’d get rid of that $6.99 minimum charge…!
After the February crash of my server box, I lost many posts written up to this time. I am considering redesigning the site and perhaps move it to a paid hosting solution. We’ll see how it goes. Meanwhile, I hope that the Internet Archive will soon have some copies of this site available for me to recapture some of the lost data.
I neglected to mention that Foxie found a home in the DFW area late last month. There was some doubt that her hoomom’s friend could take her into an apartment situation. Luckily, her hoomom’s coworker volunteered to take her in and was won over by her winning personality. Foxie really is a beautiful, gentle-natured dog who deserves the best after such a rough life. I will definitely miss her.
I heard that Dirty Dawgz opened a location in Sachse…that means no more hikes across Plano to visit the Preston/Park location. I remember the days when we lived in Addison and made the lengthy drive to their Mockingbird store (near the Dallas Dog Park)…then the Preston/Beltline shop. Dirty Dawgz’s success is an indicator of how Dallas loves their dogs…and it sure makes it easier to bathe a 150lb pup in the right-sized tub.
It’s been nearly 2 weeks since we installed a new back door (Nov 5), purchased custom-cut for a doggy door from Lowes. (Apparently, Home Depot does NOT offer this service and even referred us to Lowes.) Primed and ready to paint, the door cost about $275 and came with a jamb. Luckily, the door fit into our existing jamb, with some modification to hinges and such; thus, it wasn’t such a challenging project for dear hubby and brother to install. The hole was cut to the dimensions of Ideal’s Deluxe Pet Door, Super Large size of course, which I ordered from www.petstreetmall.com. The online retailer was somewhat lacking in the automated feedback department because I had to request a tracking number for my order. I suppose it’s a consequence of paying cheap and getting “free” shipping. Our bronze pet door arrived via UPS in good time, and while it was a much darker bronze than I had originally perceived, it still worked with the overall kitchen color scheme. Disappointingly, it had a dented corner (did not appear shipping related) which didn’t affect the door’s functionality. Our foster Foxie and the rascal Doogie took right off to the doggy door, followed by a hesitant Dandy. Dill, however, was our problem child, being sensitive to anything that he came in direct contact with. It took some major coercion the first week to get him accustomed to the door, but I’m happy to say that he is now using it more regularly.
